Next week our FSR election will take place. Here is all the information about the individual election dates:

1st election date:

• When: Tuesday 22.06.2021
• Where? Physikforum - You can either vote through the window from the outside or inside the Physics Forum (For a detailed description of the location, see here).

2nd election date:

• When?: Wednesday 23.06.2021
• Where: Maths Café - You can either go and vote through the window from outside or inside the café itself (For a detailed description of the location, see here).

Do I need to bring anything with me to the election?

Yes, we need your student card to vote. So please don't forget it :)

Who is actually a candidate for the fsr?

You can find a list of all candidates on our website: http://fsr.physik.uni-potsdam.de/doku.php?id=fsr:wahlen:2021:kandidierende

For this year, 23 people have applied / been nominated. On the website you can also read about the motivation of the candidates.

How many people can I elect?

The election takes place according to the election regulations of the FSR.

Here the following is set out:

„All eligible voters have the possibility to vote by ticking one or more, but not more than eight (8), candidates. It is not permissible to accumulate votes for individual candidates.“

All rules will be explained to you again by the election workers on site.

Am I allowed to vote?

All students of mathematics and physics (including teachers and doctoral students, as well as maths and physics in combination) and the degree programmes Astrophysics, Polymere Science and Data Science can cast their votes.

consider yourselves lucky! You're making history because you're going to be part of the first FSR election to take place during a worldwide pandemic. So there are still first times <3

We, as the election committee, hope that you won't let anything stop you in your urge to improve the world and still nominate diligently, get your name on the ballot and then, of course, go and vote.

Apply for the new FSR Maphy by sending an email to maphywahl@fsr.physik.uni-potsdam.de with the following information:

• Name, first name
• course of study and semester
• the subject you are running for (only applies to student teachers of the combination of mathematics and physics or the combined study programme)
• Short motivational text why you want to join the FSR (max. 300 characters, otherwise we will shorten the text, as it will appear on the list of candidates).

• a picture of you in all your glory (this will be published on the FSR page and on the poster, if you don't agree with this, please include it)
• Hobbies
• Nickname
• Favourite canteen food
• Time to get up & time to go to bed
• Hometown/village
• Your personal motto
• Former tasks in the FSR (if you have been in the FSR before)
• What do you want to do in the FSR (SHORT)
• Favourite formula or number
• Favourite D&D race
• Hogwarts house
• Favourite place in Potsdam and surroundings
• Favourite science fiction film (okay, other genres work too :D)
• Favourite quote
• First act after the Corona pandemic
• Favourite scientist
• … Anything else you can think of …

Of course, you can also nominate members of the student council who should be in the FSR. In this case, give all the MUST details of the person with their email address and a short explanation of why exactly this person should be on the FSR (instead of the motivational text; max. 300 characters).

You can apply or nominate others until 11.06.2021 at 23:59 at the latest.

The nominations will then be published from 15.6.2021, e.g. on the student council website.

The election in presence takes place from 22.06.2021 to 23.06.2021 with the following times:

• 22.06.2021 from 10:00 to 15:00 at the physics building - house 28 (probably at the window of the physics forum).
• 23.06.2021 from 10:00 to 15:00 at the Maths Building - House 9 (probably at the window of the Maths Café)

If there are any changes to these places or times, you will be informed at least by e-mail.

All students of Mathematics, Physics, Polymer Science and Astrophysics (i.e. teachers, monos and PhD students) who are enrolled at the University of Potsdam on 22.06.2021 are eligible to vote. A total of 12 full representatives and 6 deputy representatives can be elected.

There are 2 ways to vote:

• You can vote in secret and direct ballots at the election dates and locations listed above. You have a maximum of 8 votes in total; voting in bulk and other handwritten notes that do not serve the election are not permitted and will invalidate your vote.
• You can also take part in the election by postal vote. To do so, send an informal request to the election committee maphywahl@fsr.physik.uni-potsdam.de. You can submit your application until 11.06.2021, 23:59, and the documents must be returned by 23.06.2021 until the doors of the physics building close (approx. 15:30). We will send you the exact address when you apply for the postal vote. If ballot papers are submitted twice or more than once, the ballot paper that is submitted first will be counted. The others lose their validity. Multiple voting via absentee ballot and actual ballot paper on election day is not permitted.
• The nomination must include the following:
  • First name and surname, course of study
  • Address to which the documents are to be sent

The counting of the votes will take place publicly on 24.06.2021 from 6 pm. The election results will be announced shortly afterwards on the FSR website and via email.
